Section 5 — Where Next
Section 5 — Where Next
~1 min
That's the core. In fifteen minutes you went from "d/acc? isn't that a crypto thing?" to scoring your own phone against a five-point defense rubric. You're not an observer anymore.
But this is the shallow end. Here's how to go deeper — at your own pace.
Pick your extra materials rabbit hole
The course branches from here into standalone deep dives. Read the one that itches, skip the rest, come back whenever:
- 1 · The d/acc weeb3 tools - list of projects that practice d/acc in web3
- 2 · The d/acc watchlist - list of videos on the topic
- 3 · The Crypto Glossary — what ZK proofs, FHE, and DePIN actually are, in plain English. (Start here if Section 4's encryption question left you curious.)
The sources that matter
If you read nothing else, read Vitalik directly; he writes for humans, not academics:
- "My Techno-Optimism" (Nov 2023) — the original essay that started it all.
- "d/acc: one year later" (Jan 2025) — the sharper, more current follow-up. This is where the "survive vs thrive" framing and the bio-defense examples come from. Start here if you only read one.
- Plurality (Glen Weyl & Audrey Tang) — the free, collaborative book behind the "democratic" D. Where the Polis/vTaiwan story goes deep. Read it at plurality.net.
People worth following
A short, no-filler list of people on X, around whose ideas this course is built:
- @VitalikButerin — the architect. Goes straight to the source.
- @audreyt (Audrey Tang) — Taiwan's first Digital Minister and Plurality's other co-author. Built the vTaiwan/Polis story from Section 2 into actual national law. Living proof this works at scale.
- @glenweyl — Plurality's founder; the "democratic" half of d/acc.
- @_pgp (Primavera De Filippi) — decentralized law and coordination.
- @Snowden — rarely says "d/acc," but defensive tech is his entire life's work.
- @kassandraETH — member of Ethereum Silviculture Society and developer of Kohaku wallet
- @binji_x - Binj Pandei from the Ethereum Foundation
One last thing
You can't stop the acceleration. Nobody can. That ship sailed. But d/acc is the bet that direction is still ours to choose: that we can reach the future with our privacy, our agency, and our freedom intact instead of optimized away.
The map's in your hands now. Go switch one app. Then build something.
With love,
Web3Privacy Academy team.
