There's a strange little word reorganizing how smart people think about technology

It's d/acc. You've maybe seen it on a conference badge or buried in a thread, thrown around by people who clearly can't explain it. By the end of this course, you'll understand it better than most of them do — and you'll have used it on your own phone.

No code / deep-tech / prior knowledge needed.

What you'll walk away with

A lens for any technology. One sharp question you can aim at any app, device, or service: does this hand power to me, or quietly take it away?

A way to score the answer. A simple 5-point audit you'll run on a tool you actually use, live, by the end of the course.

The whole picture, not just the crypto slice. Why d/acc spans encryption and vaccines, privacy and power grids, and why that matters.

One concrete change. You'll finish having audited something you own and switched one thing. That's the point.

Who this is for

You don't need to be technical. You need to be curious.

This course is for the privacy-curious, the open-source crowd, the human-rights and policy people, and yes, the crypto-natives who post about d/acc but couldn't quite define it.

If you've ever championed open-source, defended encryption, fought surveillance, or just wondered whether the internet has to work this way, you already belong here. You just might not have had the word yet.

Curriculum

What's inside — 15 minutes, five sections.

  1. The Fork in the Road — why the whole "speed up vs. slow down" fight misses the point.
  2. What the D's Actually Mean — four words hiding inside "d/acc," and the one nobody talks about.
  3. The d/acc Pie — the proof it was never just a crypto thing: air, code, vaccines, money, all on one map.
  4. Audit Your World — the 5-point tool, plus a worked example (Signal vs. WhatsApp) you can copy.
  5. Where Next — the people, sources, and rabbit holes worth your time.

Then go deeper, at your own pace. Optional extras: a plain-English glossary, a field guide to real d/acc tools, and a curated watch list of the founders explaining it in their own words.

 FAQ

"Is this going to try to convert me to something?" No. It's a thinking tool, not a movement. We end by showing you where d/acc gets criticized, not just where it shines.

"I don't know anything about crypto. Will I be lost?" No — that's the whole design. If a term's unfamiliar, there's a two-minute glossary. The course is built for newcomers first, insiders second.

"Is it actually 15 minutes?" The core five sections, yes. The optional deep dives are there if you want them, and ignorable if you don't.
