Course introduction

Welcome to Conscious Engineering 101

Glad you're here.

This course exists because building things is one of the most powerful things a person can do. And most of us never stop to think about what that power is actually pointed toward.

Not because we don't care. But because nobody really asks.

Sprint cycles, pull requests, deployment pipelines, the work moves fast. And when the work moves fast, the bigger questions tend to get pushed to later. Later that quarter. Later that year. Later when things slow down.

This course is that later.

An old meme I made, but never shared anywhere : r/nonduality

It's not a technical course. You won't learn a new framework or a new language.

What you will get is a way of thinking — about technology, about power, about the systems you build and contribute to every day.

A framework for asking better questions. And a practical tool for answering them.

It takes about 20 minutes straight through. Or spread across a few days if you want time to sit with each lesson.

There's no right way to do it. Just bring an open mind and a willingness to sit with questions that don't always have clean answers.

One thing before you start.

This course isn't here to tell you that you've been doing it wrong. It's not here to make you feel guilty about where you've worked or what you've built.

It's here because the people who build things, really build them, with craft and care, are exactly the people who should be asking these questions.

You already have the skills. This is just about pointing them somewhere you're proud of.

Track your progress if you want to.

We use an LMS which means if you create a free account with your email, you get a personal dashboard that tracks which lessons you've completed, pick up where you left off, and have a smoother experience overall. Also it helps us to understand how many students we have and make strategic decisions about Academy and courses

No obligation. You can go through the whole course without signing up.

But if you want the dashboard, it takes 5 seconds.

Join the community.

There's a chat where students, alumni, and contributors hang out asking questions, sharing feedback, finding collaborators, and occasionally reporting bugs.

If you want to meet people who are asking the same questions you are, this is where they are.
